- openfoodfacts-se.json: the list as Sabel bundles it, 19,668 products, 2.6 MB. SHA-256 f36118e0c2ea909301c069541629e64f233b964aa4184865c7e5a5f033ce1b62. The file holds a list of column names and then one row per product in that order: id, nameSv, nameEn, brand, barcode, basis, kcal, protein, carbs, fat, servingName, servingSize, packSize, pieceSize and unitName.
- openfoodfacts-se-manifest.json: the record of the build, 245 KB. It names the source and its checksum, how many products were read, kept and left out and why, and the checks the numbers went through.
Where it comes from
Open Food Facts publishes its product database as an export. Sabel reads the file food.parquet of the dataset openfoodfacts/product-database on Hugging Face, at commit 6e827690f25913d148eaa5380d783f1bfa1e98ee, committed on 30 September 2026 and fetched on 2 October 2026. Its SHA-256 is e08d0a026d291f68b76c8873fda3f8824db5d8a1fc9dfb52638199a8af1d76d5 and it is 7,870,750,810 bytes. The list was built from it on 2 October 2026 and carries the version 2026-09-30, the day of that commit.
What Sabel kept and changed
- Only products sold in Sweden: the products whose countries include Sweden. The export holds 27,490 of them, and 19,668 are in the list.
- Only the fields Sabel uses: a name (the Swedish product name, else the name in the language it was entered, else its generic name), the English name, the first brand, the barcode, energy in kcal, protein, carbohydrate and fat, a serving, the size of the pack, the size of one piece and a unit name such as bar or pot. Everything else in the export, such as ingredients, other nutrients, images and labels, is left out.
- Products with no name, or without all four numbers, are left out. Energy given only in kilojoules is not converted, and no number is worked out from another. The four numbers are not corrected, rounded or blended: the export stores them as 32-bit floats, so each is written as the shortest decimal that reads back as the same value.
- Numbers are per 100 g or per 100 ml. A product's own quantity unit (g or ml) decides which, when it states one. Otherwise Open Food Facts' own "nutrition data per" tag decides, whose default is per 100 g. A product whose quantity unit and tag disagree, or whose serving is in the other unit, is left out. Grams and millilitres are never converted into each other.
- A serving is kept when its text states an amount in that unit and the serving quantity agrees, with the text as published, for example "1 portion (100 g)". Otherwise the product has none.
- The pack is the product's net quantity, when it is in the same unit as the numbers and is above 0 and at most 10,000. A piece exists only when the quantity text states exactly one count of equal pieces, a whole number from 2 to 48, times a size, for example 6 x 150 g, and the count times the size is within 1% of the net quantity.
- The unit name, such as bar or pot, comes from the product's categories and packaging.
- Products whose numbers fail Sabel's checks are left out: 417 of the 20,085 checked. A check is, for example, that the energy fits protein, carbohydrate and fat, or that a liquid does not hold more fat per 100 ml than any liquid can. The manifest counts each.
Foods a person makes or corrects in Sabel stay on their iPhone and are never sent to Open Food Facts.
